Localisation

Localisation is the process of adapting a text to a target environment and to all its specific conventions. Here, it is important to maintain not only the entire content, but also the required function of a text.
Localisation of a translation provides added value. The broader scope of such a translation includes its adaptation to the socio-cultural, marketing and other conventions of the country of the target language. When localising, we need to take into consideration the purpose for which a text is intended, the stylistic level, graphic layout, manner of writing various data and other aspects of the target environment.
Localisation is necessary when you want to introduce your services or products to a foreign market and to adapt them perfectly to the new environment. In such cases, a wide spectrum of text characteristics, such as formatting, graphic layout, time and date format, units of measurement, colours, etc., have to be adapted to the target environment.
To make sure that a text has the same effect in the target language, we may need to change its structure, so that the text suits the particular environment and is not regarded as inappropriate. High-quality localisation should make it impossible to determine that it is not the original text.
We carry out localisations of websites, technical documentation, manuals, marketing texts and audio/video recordings. Through the use of CAT technologies, we unify terminology and style so that the final text is consistent and coherent.

Website localisation

We can adapt your website according to a given language and cultural environment.
Localisation is sought either by companies with presentations in the Czech language and who would like to extend this with other language versions, or vice versa, by companies that are members of multinational groups and need to localise their websites into the Czech language. In such cases, we can deliver translated and localised texts to the customer or directly place the texts in the editorial system of the concerned website and, if required, also administer them.
Localisation also covers online help, images, subtitles, animations and other multimedia applications.

Process of website localisation:

Extraction of texts for translation from the source format / translation of texts in the given format

Creation/revision of the basic terminology with regards to the terminology used in the field and to the language trends and conventions of the target language

Visual check of the localised website

Placement of the text into the editorial system of the website (subject to access)

Professional revision of the translation or linguistic and stylistic correction by a native speaker

Regular check of new texts

Audio/video localisation

We can localise your instructional and presentation videos, as well as television and radio spots. Dubbing is always done by an experienced native speaker.

Localisation of audio/video recordings includes the following services:

Transcription of the words (including any subtitles) in the original recording (unless the source text is available)

Translation of the transcribed text

Selection of a suitable dub actor and dubbing with the output quality as required by the customer

Post-production associated with the implementation of all components into the final version of the recording

Documentation localisation

We offer a comprehensive service that consists of the translation and graphic design of your documentation and its adaptation to the relevant standards and technical requirements of various languages.

This type of translation includes localisation of technical documentation, manuals and marketing texts, including the graphic design thereof.

Localisation of technical documentation and user manuals always necessitates close cooperation with the customer (manufacturer, distributor or importer).

If possible in logistical, organisational and technical terms, it is always an advantage if the translators have the product, the documentation of which they are translating, at their disposal. Where this is not possible because of the size of the product, it is advisable to at least provide the translator with detailed photo documentation or to arrange a visit by the translator to the place where the device is located.
